MANAGEMENT
The Constitution of Tematics SA (Art 8) states that the organization will be managed by an Executive Committee (EC) , which comprises:
- A president, initially for a period of four years, elected, and thereafter for periods of two years.
- A Vice-President, initially for a period of three years elected, and thereafter for periods of two years.
- A Secretary, for the same term as the elected President.
- A Treasurer, for the same term as the Vice President is elected.
- Three members will be co-opted. One of the co-opted members will serve as the Editor, while a second member will seve in a Public Liaison role.
To manage the organization and to have as wide a representation as possible the Executive Committee (EC) decided to appoint provincial representatives (where the number of members in the province justify such a representative ). The following provinces currently have enough members to warrant representation to the EC for an initial 2 years period, and thereafter on a yearly basis:
- Gauteng
- KwaZulu-Natal
- Eastern Cape
- Western Cape
- Northern Cape (incl Free State)
- Pretoria
The Executive Committee (EC):
- Manages the affairs of the organization, and is fully authorized to act on behalf of the organization ;
- Formulates rules and regulations and advises all members so that it can effeciently manage the organisation;
- Meets as often as necessary, and through any available channels, and
- Is not jointly or individually liable for any loss or damage arising from the execution of their duties.
For 2011 and 2012, the Executive Committee (EC) will consist of the following members (the FIP representative and the Librarian act as ad hoc members):
